Dr. Abbie Beahm
Dr. Abbie Beahm was raised on a small hobby farm in eastern Iowa. Through the years, she raised goats, chickens, cattle, and horses. She also had some interesting pets growing up, including rabbits, salamanders, hamsters, and a raccoon! She has always had a special interest in exotic animals, and knew from a very young age that she wanted to become a veterinarian.
Abbie received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a minor in Biology from Dordt College (now Dordt University). She then attended Iowa State University, earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. During vet school, she made it a priority to learn more about Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). She attended the Chi Institute in Florida, and obtained her Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture (CVA). Abbie plans to further her education in TCVM by becoming certified in Veterinary Physical Manipulation (animal chiropractic) in the near future.
Abbie’s interests include exotics (reptiles, small mammals, and other “pocket pets”), canine, feline, small ruminant (goats and sheep), camelid (llamas and alpacas), bovine, and equine medicine/surgery and acupuncture. Her hobbies include horseback riding, hiking, and caring for her houseplants and critters. Abbie and her husband have a crested gecko, bearded dragon, ball python, two dachshunds, and horse.
